Local work in Tenterfield NSW 2372
Tenterfield sits at the top of the New England, where the New England Highway meets the Bruxner Highway, and it marks the western end of the Tenterfield to Tweed Heads corridor we cover. Work here ranges from town blocks to big grazing properties out towards Jennings, Liston and Mingoola, and the jobs tend to follow suit: shed pads, house sites, long gravel driveways and overgrown fence lines.
This is granite country, and the cold winters shape how we approach a job. Decomposed granite makes a good base when it is cut, shaped and compacted properly, but it scours quickly wherever water is left to run down a driveway. We look at crossfall, table drains and where runoff ends up before we talk about sealing. Frost is hard on loose gravel, which is one reason a council-approved two-coat or three-coat bitumen seal suits steeper entrances and the first stretch off the road.
For new builds we cut and level pads for houses, sheds and farm structures, trench for water, power and drainage lines, and leave the site ready for the slab or the next trade. Out of town, the Caterpillar D3G with stick rake and the Yanmar ViO55 with flail mulcher open up building envelopes, fence lines and access tracks.
If you are building in town, we also take on smaller jobs such as service trenches, footing digs and tidy driveway entrances off the street, and landholders can book a machine with an operator as wet plant hire.
What we do in Tenterfield
- Excavation and earthworks: site preparation, cut and fill, bulk earthworks and spoil handling as agreed.
- House and shed pads: levelled, compacted pads for houses, sheds and farm structures, ready for the slab or footings.
- Trenching and drainage: trenches for water, power and stormwater, plus drains to move runoff away from pads and driveways.
- Council-approved bitumen seal driveways and entrances: base preparation and a 2-coat or 3-coat seal, confirmed on quote.
- Land clearing: Caterpillar D3G with stick rake for house sites, tracks and paddocks.
- Vegetation management and flail mulching: Yanmar ViO55 with FAE flail mulcher for regrowth, lantana and fence lines.
- Wet plant hire: a machine with an operator for builders, farmers and other contractors.
Driveway entrances off a council road usually need approval from Tenterfield Shire Council, and access straight off the New England or Bruxner Highway goes through Transport for NSW. We can tell you what to ask for before work starts. Every job is quoted after we understand the site, access and scope. Licensed (NSW 494973C) and fully insured, certificate on request.
